Terms of Service

Last updated: 11 May 2026

These terms govern your use of Olara. By using the app, you agree to them.

Eligibility

Olara is intended for adults (18 and over). By using the app you confirm you're 18 or older. If you tap "I'm not" on the age check, the paid subscription is permanently disabled on this device.

What Olara is and isn't

Olara is an informational tool to help you navigate the lower-FODMAP approach. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian, or other qualified healthcare professional. Olara does not treat, cure, or diagnose any condition.

If you have new or worsening symptoms, please speak to a healthcare professional. If you experience symptoms that concern you (severe pain, blood in stool, unexplained weight loss, fever), please seek urgent medical attention rather than relying on this app.

How you use Olara

You agree to use Olara only as intended, to provide accurate information when you log meals, symptoms, and gut scores, not to attempt to reverse-engineer or modify the app, and not to use Olara in any way that violates UK law.

Recipes and content

The recipes, written guidance, and other content in Olara are the intellectual property of Zak Edmundson. You're welcome to cook the recipes for yourself and your household. You don't have permission to republish, sell, or redistribute the content without written permission.

Trial and subscription

Olara offers a 7-day free trial when you first complete onboarding. During the trial you have full access to the app and can take up to 5 Snaps. After the trial, Olara is £9.99/month (1-month subscription, billed monthly).

Billing is handled by Apple's App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android. Olara never sees your payment details. Your subscription auto-renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time from your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Restore Purchases (available on the paywall and Profile screens) re-attaches an existing entitlement on a new device, using the App Store or Play Store account you originally purchased on.

UK cooling-off right

Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day right to cancel a digital service contract and receive a refund. Because Olara starts providing the service the moment you subscribe, the Subscribe button presents a tick-box waiver: by ticking it you ask us to start the service immediately and you waive the 14-day right.

If you don't tick the waiver, the Subscribe button stays disabled. Your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law remain unaffected by these terms.

Cancelling and deleting your account

You can cancel auto-renewal in your App Store or Play Store account settings at any time; the subscription stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for.

Delete my account (Profile → Data & privacy) wipes your local and server-side Olara data. You can choose Delete now (immediate) or Delete in 30 days (recoverable during the grace period). Deleting your Olara account does not cancel any active Apple or Google subscription. That's a separate action in your App Store or Play Store settings.

Bugs and limitations

We do our best to make Olara accurate, but FODMAP science is evolving and individual tolerances vary widely. The app's verdicts and recommendations are guides, not guarantees. By using Olara, you accept that:

  • Snap may misidentify ingredients.
  • The FODMAP database is based on Zak's clinical judgement and the best available data, but isn't perfect.
  • Personalisation algorithms infer patterns that may or may not reflect your true triggers.
  • The reintroduction guide is an educational scaffold, not a clinical protocol. Talk to your dietitian if you have specific concerns.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Olara. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time. The "Last updated" date above will change. For material changes (new pricing, changes to the subscription model), we'll surface a notice in the app before the change takes effect. Continued use after a non-material update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
